Aryans in association with PGI organizes “Blood Donation Camp”

Chandigarh 28th January

Aryans Institute of Nursing and Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh today organized “Blood Donation Camp” at Aryans Group of Colleges, situated at Chandigarh-Patiala Highway, near Rajpura. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group inaugurated the Camp.

A 8 members team of Doctors, Nurses and technicians from PGIMER, Chandigarh under the leadership & guidance of Dr. Anita, Blood Transfusion Officer (BTO), PGIMER conducted thorough medical checkup of voluntary donors and selected the eligible donors to donate blood. The students were given certificates and donor cards along with refreshments.

Dr. Anshu Kataria thanked all the donors who have come forward for this noble cause. He further thanked students, Staff, management and the team for organizing this camp successfully. While motivating the students he further said that a person can save 3 lives from 1 unit blood.  He added that these camps not only provide blood to the blood banks but also are a great boon to the thalassemia and leukemia patients who need blood infusions frequently.

Kataria encouraged the donors by telling that blood donation is a very big and noble donation. It could save someone’s precious life, Could light a family’s lamp, and could give happiness to a family. A total of 37 Units of blood were collected by the students and staff of Aryans.

Dr. Parveen Kataria, Director General, Aryans Group said that worldwide millions of lives get saved every year because of blood donation and many more can be saved. She added that the college is looking forward to organize such camps on regular basis as Blood is Life and blood donation is noble cause.

Prof B S Sidhu, Registrar, Aryans Group added that “None of us can survive without blood in our body and Blood Donation is a service to the society”. He appreciated the students who donated their blood. “It feels good when people come forward for a noble cause, especially when we see enthusiastic feeling of youngsters for mankind” he added.

Ms Jagjit Kaur, Principal, Aryans Institute of Nursing said that such camps will kindle a spirit of social service in the student community. Quoting the benefits of donating blood, she further said that it helps to maintain healthy heart, increases red blood cells production, helps in decreasing body weight and on top of it improves the psychological health as it gives a feel good factor.
